Daniel Roseberry titled Schiaparelli's Spring 2027 ready-to-wear collection "Going Clear" and showed it in Paris on Thursday, October 1. In his notes on the house's site, he places the show in the basement of the Louvre and says the title is about walking away from the industry's status game, and from gossip and social media.

The idea behind the clothes is the separate. Roseberry writes that he took the house's signature gowns and necklines and recut them as tops and bottoms, leaning on American sportswear and his Texas roots. "Mix it, match it, make it your own," he writes. To make the pieces easy to combine, he kept the palette tight: "Schiap black, bone and butter," in his words, with a few pops of colour.

The cut is deliberately soft. He says there are very few severe lines, with lettuce hems and asymmetrical openings instead, and ruffles in leather and linen inspired by the curtains that once lined the second-floor windows of the Place Vendôme atelier in Elsa Schiaparelli's day. Vegetables and feathers are embroidered onto sheer shirts, and the vegetables also show up on one of eight versions of the house jacket, in kingfisher blue, moss green and salmon pink drawn from the archive.

Knitwear is the star, in Roseberry's words, including a sheer viscose tree-bark knit that nods to a fabric Elsa developed. Broderie anglaise, a couture technique, also appears in the ready-to-wear. His take on the little black cocktail dress is what he calls revenge dressing, inspired by Look 1 of the house's most recent couture collection, "The Abyss."

Accessories follow the same logic. The notes describe handbags in classic shapes, the hobo and the pocketbook, one with a brass mouth that works as the handle, and lower everyday shoes including a babouche, a knit bootie and a mule with a ball on the toe. Jewellery comes as animal-shaped earrings, cuffs and brooches, from horses and dolphins to spiders, and the house's keyhole and lips codes turn up in new places.

Metal Magazine calls the presentation calm, with the clothes, not the staging, doing the work. It reads the two-piece looks as a capsule-wardrobe system and singles out the blazer, which comes in moss green, satin pink and a vivid blue.

There is a business point under the poetry. Roseberry writes that Schiaparelli has no separate commercial collection: the runway clothes are the ones made and sold. The house's show page lists 52 looks.
