j-hope's Second HUMAN MADE Collection Opens the Label's New Tokyo Flagship
HUMAN MADE and j-hope of BTS are back with HUMAN HOPE Season 2, out Saturday, September 26. It's the launch collection for HUMAN MADE TOKYO, the label's new flagship in Harajuku, the neighborhood HUMAN MADE calls its origin, and it goes up on the HUMAN MADE online store the same day. The name makes it the pair's second collection together.
There are sixteen pieces, all built on HUMAN HOPE's squirrel graphic and the collaboration logo. The clothing sticks to HUMAN MADE staples: a denim work jacket, a sweatshirt and a T-shirt. The rest of the range is objects rather than clothes: a squirrel hariko figure (hariko is Japanese papier-mâché), storage containers, an umbrella, a pouch and pins.
Two pieces won't be online at all. HUMAN MADE TOKYO gets a varsity jacket and a T-shirt made for its opening, sold only in the store. Getting in on opening weekend isn't first come, first served either: entry on Saturday the 26th and Sunday the 27th is by advance lottery through the HUMAN MADE Inc. official app, entered from its MY PAGE section.
HUMAN MADE hasn't posted a time for the whole collection online yet. Its own post for one piece, the HUMAN HOPE Container 20L, gives 9am Japan time on the 26th, on the online store only. That's 8pm ET on Friday, September 25. If the rest of the range follows the same clock, anyone in the US is shopping it on Friday night, not Saturday.
HUMAN MADE is Nigo's label, and opening a new Harajuku flagship with a BTS member rather than another fashion name says who it's building for. A collection where the papier-mâché squirrel and the storage boxes get as much space as the jacket is made for a fanbase as much as a wardrobe. That's the bet: the people lining up for this are coming for j-hope first and HUMAN MADE second, and the flagship gets to meet all of them on day one.
