ASOS and adidas Originals have a fifth collection. Collection 05 goes on sale on ASOS.com on Friday, October 16, with ASOS.WORLD loyalty members getting it a day early, on October 15, ASOS said in two releases on October 9, one for the womenswear and one for the menswear. It then moves into the adidas store on the Champs-Élysées for a four-day Paris pop-up, October 16 to 19.
The women's side is the loud one. ASOS calls it a maximalist take on '80s sportswear: peplum track jackets, oversized funnel necks, retro panelling, leather, checks, sheened nylon and satin, in black, deep brown, rust and neutrals with blue, orange and yellow accents, plus snakeskin and dark zebra prints. The release singles out a two-tone, maxi-length faux-fur coat with a jersey hood, and a tonal brown 3-Stripes track set covered in embellishment.
The prices
ASOS names its hero pieces in pounds. For women: a printed abstract animal track jacket with a peplum (£100) and matching track pants (£80), a tailored track jacket (£100) and pants (£80) in grey marl, a cut-and-sew overhead track jacket in rust (£90), and the most expensive, an overhead embellished check track jacket in brown at £160. For men: a herringbone track jacket (£120) and pants (£85) in grey, and a brown puffer jacket at £160.
The menswear is quieter: relaxed tailoring, wide trousers, a nylon puffer with a high protective collar, a floral embroidered tracksuit, an argyle tracksuit and heavyweight borg funnel necks. ASOS says it was designed in-house through the lens of adidas Originals, with the stylist Marcus Pancho back as creative.
"For Collection 05, we wanted to give people the confidence to be bolder with sportswear," said Vanessa Spence, ASOS's executive vice president of brand and creative, in the womenswear release. "We've pushed the contrast between sport and glamour through exaggerated proportions, rich textures and unexpected details."
The read
The interesting part is the model behind it. FashionUnited reports that the partnership started in 2024 through ASOS's Test & React model, which uses small production runs and data-driven trend forecasting, and cut the usual three-to-six months from design to market to about three weeks. That's a retailer's way of building a collab: adidas lends the Trefoil and the three stripes, and ASOS reads the trend and decides how much of it to make.
It seems to be working well enough to leave the website. ASOS says its July pop-up at adidas's Oxford Street flagship sold out all its core styles, and Paris follows it. What neither release gives is US pricing for the hero pieces: ASOS's notes list a range that doesn't line up across currencies, so check ASOS.com in your own currency on the 16th.
