Burton and Hiroshi Fujiwara's fragment design are back for the 2026-2027 winter, and this time the collection carries backpacks. Burton Japan announced on October 29 that the Burton x FRAGMENT pieces go on sale Thursday, November 5, at 11am Japan time, at its flagship stores in Tokyo, Sapporo, Nagano and Osaka, its Burton Stores in Kanda, Sendai and Niseko, and Burton's Japanese online store. Burton's collection page adds its Rusutsu store and the Hakuba store it opens on November 22.

The centre of it is a shell set from [ak], Burton's technical outerwear line: the GORE-TEX 3L Pro Acamar jacket at ¥176,000 and the matching Acamar bib pants at ¥154,000. Burton says the pair is built mostly in white and black, designed to sit as naturally in a city as in the backcountry while standing up to hard conditions on the mountain.

Under the shell there's the [ak] Baker Down Ultralight Insulated Jacket at ¥47,300, a fleece at ¥28,600 and fleece pants at ¥24,200. The new pieces are the packs: a 32L Guide Pack at ¥46,200 and an 18L Jet Pack at ¥30,800. Every price includes tax.

How to buy it

Some stores sell only by lottery, and Burton's two announcements don't describe the same one. Its release puts the four flagships on a lottery, with entries from noon on October 29 to 11pm on October 31, Japan time, and emails to every entrant from noon on November 4. Its collection page lists a lottery for the Kanda, Sendai, Niseko, Rusutsu and Hakuba stores, with entries from noon on October 30 to noon on November 1 and emails from 7pm on November 2. Either way, winners get a time slot and a ticket number for November 5, and Burton is clear that anyone without a ticket can't buy at a lottery store that day, even by queueing.

The read

Burton says Fujiwara has been going to the mountains for about 30 years, and its collection page puts his collaboration with the brand at more than 30 years, with special gear and outerwear made along the way. The release frames this as the series continuing "this season too". Putting it on [ak] rather than a logo tee is the point: the jacket is priced as a real three-layer GORE-TEX shell, and fragment's contribution is the restraint: white and black, with the marks kept small on the front.

The packs, new this season, take it off the mountain: a 32L pack and an 18L pack are things you'd carry every day, the same city-and-snow crossover Burton describes for the shell. What's still open: Burton Japan's release covers Japan only, and it says nothing about the US or Europe this season.
