Needles, the label Keizo Shimizu runs under Nepenthes, has a collaboration with A Tribe Called Quest, and it goes on sale on Saturday, October 17. Needles posted the lineup on Instagram on October 9, alongside a feature on Nepenthes' site: four pieces, shot by Akira Yamada and styled by Shota Iigaki.
The headline piece is the B.B. Jacket, at ¥77,000. It's black, cut like a baseball jacket with red-and-green striped rib trim, and its back carries the figure from the cover of The Low End Theory, the group's second album, in the same red, green and black. The album turned 35 on September 24.
The four pieces
The track set is Needles' best-known shape in the group's colours: a black Track Jacket at ¥29,700 with red and green stripes down the sleeves and the group's round logo embroidered across the back, and the matching Track Pant at ¥24,200.
The most expensive piece is the Roll Neck Cardigan, at ¥107,800, knitted in jagged red, green and black stripes with a round patch on the chest, worn in the lookbook with black track pants.
Where to get it
Nepenthes lists its Tokyo, Osaka and Hakata stores, its three Nepenthes Woman stores and South2 West8 in Sapporo for questions about the collection. It hasn't said whether any of it will sell online or by raffle, or given a time for the release. For more from the Nepenthes family this season, see South2 West8 and Columbia's PFG collection.
