Veronica Leoni is leaving Calvin Klein Collection. The company said on October 15 that it and its creative director are parting ways when her current contract runs out, according to FashionNetwork and W Magazine, which both reported Calvin Klein's statement. It hasn't named a successor; the new creative direction for Collection will be announced in due course, it said.
David Savman, Calvin Klein's global brand president, thanked Leoni for her creative vision and her work over the past two years. The company also said Collection stays an important part of Calvin Klein's long-term strategy, describing it as the top expression of the brand. So the line isn't being shelved, only its designer.
Four seasons
Leoni joined in May 2024, the first woman to lead the line. Her debut, Fall 2025 in February 2025 at New York Fashion Week, was Calvin Klein's first runway show since Raf Simons left in 2018, and it got mixed reviews. Spring 2026 was received better, and her fourth and most recent show, Spring 2027, came on September 11 at Terminal Warehouse in New York, where she stretched the house's coats, shirts and trousers longer and quieter. W says she seemed to have finally hit her stride.
Before Calvin Klein she worked at Jil Sander, at Phoebe Philo's Céline and at Moncler, and most recently was design director for women's and men's at The Row, and in 2020 started her own label, Quira, which she put on hold for the Calvin Klein job. She was a finalist for the LVMH Prize in 2023.
The read
Leaving as the reviews got better is the odd part. FashionNetwork says talk that her contract wouldn't be renewed had gone around for months, and it points to the business around her: in PVH's second quarter, Calvin Klein's sales fell 7%. Collection is the runway line at the top of a brand far better known for its jeans and underwear, and bringing it back to the New York calendar under Leoni was widely read as Calvin Klein's bid to get back into the fashion conversation. Four seasons is a short run for that kind of rebuild.
It also lands in a year when designers are moving fast: Anthony Vaccarello is leaving Saint Laurent and Kim Jones has started his own label. What isn't known yet is when her contract actually ends, so whether she designs a Fall 2027 show, and who takes the line next.
