Online Ceramics ended its October run on the film the holiday is named after. The label put six pieces built on John Carpenter's Halloween on sale at online-ceramics.com on October 30 at 10am Pacific, the day before Halloween, and called it Act 3, the final chapter of its Spookytober season. Act I went up on October 16.
Every piece borrows a line or a place from the 1978 film, and five of the six posts tag the Halloween films' official account. A black long sleeve, named for the line "Don't You Know What Happens On Halloween?", carries a blown-up, blue-lit shot of Michael Myers' mask with the John Carpenter's Halloween title under it. An orange tee carries the name of Smith's Grove Sanitarium, the hospital Myers escapes from, with its Warren County address.
Pieces and prices
Online Ceramics' shop lists all six. The two tees are $68 each: the orange Smith's Grove Sanitarium tee and a black tee called You Can't Kill the Boogeyman, printed on the front with an orange still under "On a cold Halloween night...". The long sleeve is $85, The Trick Is To Stay Alive black sweatpants are $98, and the black hoodie, The Only Smiling Face You'll See in Haddonfield Tonight, is $130, with the film's glowing jack-o'-lantern on the chest. The cheapest piece is The Boogeyman black hat at $45.
The read
Horror is home ground for Online Ceramics. The Los Angeles label, founded in 2016, built its name on graphic tees, many of them tie-dyed by hand, full of borrowed images and sayings, and the rest of this year's Spookytober range on the same shop runs from Leatherface and The Haunting of Hill House to Shirley Jackson. A capsule on Carpenter's film was the obvious way to close it.
The prices are the label's usual ones: the Halloween tees cost the same $68 as most of its printed tees, and the hoodie the same $130 as most of its hoodies. What Online Ceramics hasn't said is how many it made, or whether anything is coming back once Halloween is over.
