Louis Vuitton has built Pharrell's next men's collection around the weather. The Spring-Summer 2027 Pre-Collection is on Louis Vuitton's US site now, where the house sums it up as a collection "braced for the elements, where dandy dressing meets an adaptable technicality — whatever the forecast." The campaign carries that line as its title, Whatever the Weather, and Louis Vuitton's German-language release credits the photos to Oliver Hadlee Pearch.

The house has been rolling it out on Instagram since October 29: a reel called Trend forecast, a post on aluminum trunks later the same day, and on October 30 a post called Rain check, which says rainwear archetypes are reimagined through Louis Vuitton's savoir-faire, with sleek silhouettes and packable pieces.

What's in it

The US page counts 131 pieces, and the rain theme runs from outerwear to accessories. Among those we read there: a Reversible Nylon/Fleece Hooded Blouson at $3,650, an LV Signature Wintry Coach Jacket at $3,400, a Padded Puffer Jacket at $3,500, a Glossed Denim Zipped Hoodie at $3,900, and Monogram Surplus Skate Jeans and a Monogram Surplus Lasered Denim Shirt at $2,000 each. The top of the outerwear is a Mink Zipped Blouson at $33,000, with an LV Signature Leather Parka at $11,100 below it.

The weather jokes are in the small things. There's an actual Louis Vuitton Umbrella at $1,090, an LV Umbrella Bag Charm at $620, an LV Louis Bear Rain Bag Charm at $1,490 and an Umbrella Wearable Wallet at $7,100, next to travel bags like the Keepall Bandoulière 50 at $4,050, a Jet Lag Bag MM at $3,900 and the Horizon 55 suitcase at $4,400. The cheapest pieces are two $260 ties, the Initiales and the Monogram Varsity, and $315 silk squares.

The trunks

The aluminum pieces are priced too. The full-size trunk on the US page is the Courrier Lozine 110 at $103,000; Louis Vuitton's product page says it reimagines the metallic trunk in aluminum, engraved with the Monogram and trimmed with studded cowhide bands, with two removable trays inside. Beside it are an aluminum Clutch Box at $25,100, a Coffret 8 Montres watch case at $27,300 and an aluminum Horizon 55 suitcase at $4,700.

The read

This one is built to sell: a simple theme that photographs well, and a long list of bags and small leather goods under it. The idea is travel, which Louis Vuitton's own post calls a new facet of its travel heritage, and the trunks make the point: the house's most traditional object, redone in silver aluminum like a piece of kit, with a six-figure price that tells you who it's for. Louis Vuitton gave it a post of its own.

It lands the same week as the Monogram trunks the house built for the Ballon d'Or trophies, so Louis Vuitton's luggage is doing most of its talking right now. What it hasn't said is how many of the aluminum trunks it is making.
