Civil Regime's sci-fi horror drop goes live today. The brand's launch page bills it as three films and three separate collections, Alien, Predator and AVP: Requiem, released together on Friday, October 30, at 12pm Pacific (3pm Eastern), exclusively on its own online shop, after a preview that opened at the same hour on Thursday.
The collection page lists 45 pieces, priced from $40 to $200. Tees are the biggest share: $55 American Classic oversized tees with names like Face Hugger, Apex and Alien Genesis, four $60 199X tees, $70 long sleeves and a $75 199X Twofer. Then it moves into heavier pieces: $85 and $95 hoodies, wide-leg fleece pants to match two of them, a $160 Apex Hunter bomber in Cypress Green or black, and the Nostromo windbreaker at $150 with $90 track pants, named after the ship in Alien.
The top of the range is $200: raw denim jackets and jeans in three designs (Apex Hazard, Xeno Ascension and Space Vs. Earth), $200 a piece, and the Alien Vs. Predator box set, which packs four of Civil Regime's 199X tees together; its October 28 post names the same four designs sold singly at $60. The brand describes the 199X as a custom oversized tee modelled on vintage tees it hunted from the early and mid-'90s.
Some of it is made in very small numbers. Civil Regime's October 26 post called the whole thing a micro drop with everything "extremely limited", and its October 27 post says only 150 units were made of an exclusive marble hoodie, the blue xenomorph print with black roses on the hood and sleeves. There's a women's range too, in a second AVP camo: a mesh cropped top at $45, a cropped fur-trimmed zip hoodie, a pleated mini skirt, ultra-low-rise wide-leg pants and a seamless bra and shorts.
The read
The only other collection Civil Regime's shop puts in its menu right now is with Slayer, and the brand frames this one the same way: the films' imagery "reimagined through the Civil Regime lens" and rooted in what it calls its Roses From Concrete DNA, which is why roses keep turning up on hoods and sleeves. The photos in its posts carry a 20th Century Studios copyright line. Landing the day before Halloween, a horror drop doesn't need more of a reason than that.
Putting three films into one launch is the bigger swing. Alien and Predator each have their own fans, and the crossover is where the product names meet: the box set is sold as Alien Vs. Predator and the camo that runs through the hoodies, pants and women's pieces is called AVP Camo. What Civil Regime hasn't said is how many of the other pieces were made, or whether any of it comes back once it sells out.
