Loewe Shoots Its Spring 2027 Precollection in Madrid, In Stores November 12

Loewe took its Spring Summer 2027 precollection to Madrid. The campaign, released on October 27, moves through the city's food markets, tiled bars and modernist apartment blocks, and Loewe's own page says the collection is in stores and on loewe.com from November 12. A new bag, the Flamenco Flap, follows on December 3.

Talia Chetrit took the photographs and Julian Klincewicz directed the film, according to Loewe's posts. The cast is actors Diego Calva, Victoria Luengo and Kristine Frøseth with Jiang Qiming, a Loewe brand ambassador. DSCENE adds that the film's electronic soundtrack is by Frederick Sanchez and that the locations take in grocery stalls, subway stations and a sunken road. The collection is by creative directors Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez.

The clothes

Loewe's page promises "bold colour" and hybrid pieces, with shirts and knits merged into one garment and trousers cut to new proportions. The campaign pictures show what that looks like. Luengo sits in a market aisle in a charcoal wrapped-collar knit over a red roll-neck, with a full black leather skirt and a brown suede bag; another frame has a long-haired woman in a cropped purple bomber over black leather trousers on a bridge above a sunken road, and another a navy leather hooded jacket with a yellow-lined hood, worn with a grey cap turned backwards so its green back panel shows.

The Flamenco Flap

The bag Loewe is pushing is the Flamenco Flap, "a supple new silhouette" in its page's words and the latest addition to the Flamenco line: a slouchier flap version of the bag, with the family's knotted-metal closure. Loewe lists a medium in suede, a medium in nappa calfskin and a small in nappa calfskin in three colourways, with no prices on the page. DSCENE says the Amazona 180 arrives in new colours and grained leather.

The read

The setting is the point. McCollough and Hernandez took over from Jonathan Anderson, and their Spring 2027 runway in Paris was New England prep. The precollection puts the same kind of clothes, leather, knits and hard colour, in Madrid's markets, bars and subway stations instead, which reads as an argument that the house's new direction works on an ordinary street as well as a runway. Giving the Flamenco Flap its own date suggests where the house expects the money: a soft version of an existing bag family, out three weeks after the clothes and in time for the holidays. Loewe hasn't said what any of it costs.
