Auralee and Tekla are doing it again. The Japanese label and Tekla, which has its own shops in Copenhagen and London's Marylebone, release their second collection together on Wednesday, October 28, Auralee announced on its Instagram on October 25 and on its site, two years after the first. Auralee's own online store opens it at 6pm Japan time, which is 5am in New York, and it ships internationally.
Auralee's announcement describes knitwear, sleepwear, slippers, bedding, blankets and accessories, drawn from the experience of dressing for a cold winter's day and the pieces you come back to at home. It leans on two Scandinavian ideas: "friluftsliv", the belief that life is best lived outdoors in nature, and the saying "no bad weather, only bad clothing". In the split of labour, Auralee brings the knitwear, made from what it calls the finest fibres, and Tekla its own materials for its core categories.
Where to buy it
Online, it's at Auralee's and Tekla's own stores, MR PORTER and NET-A-PORTER. In Japan, it's at Auralee Tokyo, Auralee's Isetan Shinjuku men's and women's shops, Auralee Hankyu Umeda women's, Dover Street Market Ginza and Garage D.Edit in Osaka. In Europe, Tekla's Copenhagen and Marylebone shops and Nitty Gritty in Sweden carry it. In North America, it's Mohawk General Store and Ven Space in the US and Neighbour in Canada, and in Asia, Beaker in Korea, B1ock in China and Artifacts in Taiwan. Auralee hasn't posted prices, and its store rules ban buying for resale and ask shoppers not to queue before opening.
Our read
The first collection, released on October 30, 2024, was built around the onsen: towels, striped poplin pyjamas, a robe coat and cashmere night socks for the walk home from a hot bath. This one swaps Japanese bathing for a Nordic winter and puts Auralee's knitwear at the front, which plays to what the label does best, while the bedding and blankets mean half of it is made for the house rather than the street. With no prices yet and only two US shops carrying it, the realistic route for most American buyers is the 5am ET online launch.
